Speaker Bio

Jianjun Luo received his Ph.D. from Zhejiang University in 1997, Master’s Degree from Hangzhou Dianzi University in 1993, and Bachelor’s degree from the E.E Dept of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1991. He is currently the Director of Microelectronics Research Institute, Hangzhou Dianzi University, as well as the Founder & Chairman of Sage Microelectronics Corporation. He has focused on System-On-Chip design for 30 years. His achievements include the SDH/SONET chip-set for optical fiber communication systems, computer interface bridge controllers, flash memory card controllers & solid-state drive (SSD) controllers, disk array controllers, data security chips, etc. He has rich experience in Silicon Valley as the founder/co-founder of multiple IC design houses. He has published more than 30 academic papers and owns some 40 patents in the USA & China. He has presided over more than 10 national projects and was awarded the Second Prize for National Science and Technology Progress in 2020.


骆建军,博士,钱江特聘教授/博士生导师,国家万人计划人才、浙江省领军型创新团队负责人。现任杭州电子科技大学微电子研究中心主任、浙江省固态存储和数据安全重点实验室主任,他也是杭州华澜微电子股份有限公司的创始人、董事长兼总经理。主要研究领域在大规模集成电路设计,细分领域方向的片上系统芯片(SOC)方向包括光纤通信系统SDH/SONET芯片、计算机接口桥(Bridge)控制器、存储卡/固态硬盘(SSD)控制器、硬盘阵列控制器和数据加密芯片等。他有美国硅谷多年创业经验、参与创立多家芯片设计公司。累计发表30多篇学术论文、获得40多个美国和中国发明专利,主持10多个国家项目,获得2020年国家科技进步二等奖。



Abstract

Solid-state storage technology with semiconductor memories was applied so successfully that film and magnetic disks have been phased out in the last several years. Traditional hard drives with magnetic media have been replaced by solid-state drives (SSDs). Today, data explosion brings more new technologies such as NVME and NVDIMM. The lecture will review the history of data storage devices, describe the key technologies of storage media and controllers, and the challenges, including semiconductor storage device structures, high-speed computer interfaces, and various algorithms. The accumulated IPs and SOC architectures for high-end integrated system design and brief analysis of IC-level development roadmap in this field will also be presented.


基于半导体存储媒介的固态存储技术已经把胶卷、磁盘送进了历史博物馆,传统磁介质硬盘正在被闪存介质固态硬盘替代。今天的数据大爆炸更是刺激了NVMEnvDIMM等更多新技术的诞生。本报告回顾了数据存储设备发展的历程,描述了当前固态存储介质及其控制器芯片的技术要点、面临的挑战,包括半导体存储器件结构、高速计算机接口、各种软硬件结合的算法等等;多学科交叉的IP积累和片上系统芯片(SOC)架构融合的高端芯片设计技术;最后,简单分析了近几年此领域芯片级硬科技的发展方向。
