Speaker Bio
Dr. Yong Yan is currently Professor of Electronic Instrumentation and Director of Innovation at School of Engineering, University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K. He received the B.Eng. and M.Sc. in instrumentation and control from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1985 and 1988, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in flow measurement from the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, U.K., in 1992. He has published over 210 papers in scientific journals with an h-index of 47 and 8300+ citations. In recognition of his contributions to particle flow metering and burner flame imaging he was named an IEEE Fellow in 2011 and elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2020. He is a Distinguished Lecturer (DL) appointed by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
闫勇博士现任英国肯特大学工程学院教授、科研创新主管、仪表与控制研究中心主任。1985年获清华大学工业仪表及自动化专业学士学位。1988年获清华大学自动化仪表与装置专业硕士学位并留校任教。1989年赴英国从事气固两相流测量研究，于1992年获英国提赛德大学博士学位。他的研究方向包括传感器、仪器仪表、测量系统及状态监测。他已发表学术期刊论文210余篇，h-index 47，引用次数8300多。他已在顶级学术期刊 IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM)上共发表论文50多篇，是全英国有史以来在该期刊发表论文最多的学者。鉴于他在仪表与测量领域的突出成就，他于2011年当选为IEEE Fellow，于2020年当选为英国皇家工程院院士。他是IEEE仪表与测量学会的Distinguished Lecturer 。
